Newey & Eyre is partnering with Schneider Electric on a 12 month project

Newey & Eyre is partnering with Schneider Electric to provide customers with a better understanding of energy usage, helping them to identify monitoring and efficiency opportunities.

Working together on a 12 month project, Newey & Eyre's national sales team has engaged in training sessions, led by Schneider Electric's energy efficiency experts. Covering elements of lighting, automation, power factor correction, drives and metering, the seminars will enable Schneider Electric's specialist energy management and legislative knowledge to be delivered to Newey & Eyre's established network of customers.

Energy efficiency is high on the news agenda and is a topic that continues to create interest. With a great knowledge of new legislation and government initiatives Schneider Electric is one of Newey & Eyre's best in class energy efficient partners and their expertise makes energy management logical and straight forward.

The training focuses on Schneider Electric's four steps to energy efficiency programme, to help customers reduce electricity consumption; Measure, Fix the Basics, Automate, Monitor and Improve. The programme also details the benefits of Schneider Electric's energy efficient solutions, most of which are core products stocked at Newey and Eyre branches nationwide and also now available at Newey's online webshop.

Kevin Norman, category manager at Newey & Eyre explains: "Through our established relationship with Schneider Electric we have been able to work together to educate our network of customers on energy efficient practices and solutions, preparing them for changes in legislation.

"With cost reduction remaining the focus for many businesses in the difficult economic climate, this expert knowledge will enable them to manage their energy and identify where further savings can be made in the future."

The new and improved Heavy-Duty Slide 2 from Techno
Inc., is capable of carrying heavy-cantilevered loads with ease

Techno, Inc. Linear Motion Systems recently introduced the newly improved Heavy-Duty Slide 2, constructed from a single rigid aluminum extrusion profile and capable of handling heavy-cantilevered loads. The 225 mm wide, modular design is available in travels from 122 mm (4.8") to 2722 mm (107.2") with a new wraparound motor mounting kit that allows for longer travel with shorter overall lengths.  The Heavy-Duty Slide 2 is made to be extremely versatile with T-slots on three sides for easy mounting options.

"The improved design on our Heavy-Duty Slide 2 models offers customers an affordable, yet wide stable base, for use in any assembly equipment," says Joe Griffin, Linear Motion Systems Sales Manager. "By providing a slide that can handle large cantilevered loads, we increase the list of applications it can be used for. We also use Teflon lip seals so that the full length of travel is utilized and the interior components are guarded against contaminants."

All models are fit with four precision rails, four bearing blocks, home reference and end limit switches. Customers can choose from inline or side-mounted stepper motors or servomotors. The 16 mm anti-backlash ball screws are available in 2.5 mm (.1"), 5 mm (.2"), 10 mm (.4"), and 20 mm (.8") leads; and complete CAD Drawings are available on the web.

The Fort brand of locks features a number of combination locks

Fort locks from EMKA are expected to be of special interest for many types of low cost applications - such as recessed handles for vehicle storage boxes, or key locks for cabinets/lockers, desks, filing cabinets and cupboards.

The Fort brand features a number of combination locks - ideal for changing room storage cabinets, as well as versions with master key override, which enables re-sequencing of locks, e.g.  when the cabinet is abandoned by its user. Indeed, most ranges can be mastered to permit central access to batched locks - typically, this would be an advantage in the storage of industrial clothing, such as in company lockers.

Other situations are particularly addressed by the very neat and compact radial pin lock, which offer some 10,000 key combinations. Indeed, the wide spread of Fort lock types provide many choices of barrel lengths, cam types and key options, e.g. 100, 200, 500, 2000 specific combinations dependant upon requirement - as well as providing many custom possibilities.

Sub-contract bending of pipework and metal sections

The Angle Ring Company Ltd specialise in sub-contract bending of pipework and metal sections utilising a variety of production techniques in induction bending of larger pipework, tube manipulation (smaller O/D sizes) and heavy plate rolling.

Picture shows: Inductionn bending facilities at the Angle Ring Co Ltd, showing the high precision forming of large diameter pipework.

They have an established reputation for technically superior bending, producing high quality, dimensionally stable results to close working tolerances. Where work is designated for oil and gas related installations, Angle Ring will apply a 'special status' commitment ensuring their compliance with all JIT or on-site delivery requirements. Other industries where accuracy and uniformity are important are also supplied such as petrochemicals (pipelines), power generation (steam lines) including nuclear, wind farms (J tubes), construction and architecture, defence (vehicle armour plating) and a wide range of general engineering.

The Angle Ring cold rolling facilities are extensive, to the extent that every 'open' section produced by Corus, or indeed any mill throughout Europe, can be curved with their rolling methods. This covers a wide range of steels and even the more exotic metals together with closed sections. Where the cold bending of larger diameter sections becomes impractical due to the stresses induced, then Angle Ring can provide induction heating capacity. This covers pipes from 88.9mm up to 915mm O/D sizes and wall thicknesses up to 50mm, together with the entire range of RHS, SHS and CHS sections up to lengths of 30 metres.

Techno CNC Routers' new universal knife system

Techno, Inc. CNC Routers now offer its Techno Universal Knife System, an all in one universal tool that uses one main drive capable of processing multiple applications through interchangeable heads. Using a common rotary drive, the Techno Universal Knife System can change between the Oscillating Knife, Tangential Drag Knife, Spring Loaded Pen, Vinyl Drag Cutter or Creasing Wheel Kit when needed.

"Our Universal Knife System was designed to target various industries that would benefit from an interchangeable tool," says Roy Valentine, CNC Routers Sales Manager. "Whether the company is a Sign or Point of Purchase manufacturer that needs to cut graphic art sheets printed on a wide format flat bed printer, HVAC manufacturer that needs to cut acoustic liners, or a packaging manufacturer that needs to cut and crease corrugated cartons, this one system is the right product."

In addition to the interchangeable heads mentioned above, the Techno Universal Knife System can be combined with the Techno Vision (digital image verification package) to provide Sign and Graphics customers a complete and easy-to-use digital finishing solution. System functions allow the operator to load material on any Techno CNC Router, select the image for routing and press "Start". The machine will then verify the linear and rotational distortion and proceed in routing the pattern of the desired image before your eyes.

All Universal Knife System interchangeable heads and specifications are available online at: http://www.techno-isel.com/cnc_routers/universal_knife.htm or contact their knowledgeable application engineering staff to discuss the best choice for your application, Tel: 1-800-819-3366.
