National Scientific mass spec certified low particle, low background vials for highly sensitive applications
New National Scientific Mass Spec Certified Vials, from Thermo Fisher, are cleaned and tested as standard. These low-particulate chromatography vials are cleaned in a GMP compliant, fully-validated clean room environment to minimize the occurrence of any contamination. Each lot is tested for particle counts, as well as LC/MS and GC/MS background to provide a consistently high performance from every vial. In addition, the packaging is also pre-cleaned to ensure product integrity, making National Scientific Mass Spec Certified Vials ideal for a wide range of highly sensitive chromatography applications
Manufactured from inert, pure and chemically stable glass, the Mass Spec Certified Vials are produced under strict quality control protocols for uniformity. Each vial undergoes the in-process verification of 13 critical physical characteristics, thus ensuring a reproducible performance is obtained with every use. After each vial has been processed and tested, it is immediately packaged into pre-cleaned, inert vial trays. Ultra-high purity bonded PTFE/silicone closures are packaged in airtight, re-sealable containers to further reduce the possibility of contamination. Thermo Scientific Midi 40 CO2 incubators offer simple, reliable bench-top culturing performance
Thermo Fisher Scientific's new smaller capacity Thermo Scientific Midi 40 CO2 incubator delivers the reliable culturing performance of a full-sized incubator in a convenient, space saving footprint. The Midi 40Ô is ideal for researchers who require separate, undisturbed incubation conditions due to the contamination risk associated with shared incubators or lack of available space. Additional benefits include reduced energy and gas consumption, as well as lower heat output, which helps laboratories lower operational costs and conserve resources.
The incubation parameters of the Midi 40 are easily managed using the incubator's IntrLogic II user interface, which features a bright, highly visible vacuum fluorescent display and an easy-to-navigate membrane touchpad. The unit also incorporates a non-corrosive stainless steel chamber, with 1.4 cubic feet (40 liters) of culture space, and a heated humidity pan to generate relative humidity values of up to 95 percent. Rapid recovery rates promote optimal cell growth and highly efficient direct heating design provides extremely accurate temperature control with a uniformity of 0.1 °C.
The Midi 40 CO2 incubator is supplied with RS485 signal output for convenient data capture, and it includes an adjustable audible and visual alarm to alert the user to any significant changes to the incubation conditions.
The easily stackable Thermo Scientific Midi 40 CO2 incubator is ideal for cell culturing scientists who need smaller, discrete workspaces or who require smaller sample throughput. For further information, view website: www.thermo.com/incubators Refer to next page

ADC BioScientific Ltd., world leaders in the design and manufacture of environmental research instrumentation, has introduced a new extended CO2 range gas exchange system suitable for both plant physiology and soil science.
The LCpro+ is the first truly portable and affordable gas exchange system with full environmental control and a graphic display. The LCpro+ is now available with either a 0-2000ppm or 0-3000ppm CO2 range.
The LCpro+ provides full automatic and independent control of the environmental conditions within the plant leaf chamber. This includes CO2, H2O, Temperature and PAR. All environmental control facilities are contained within the single compact and lightweight console.
Weighing only 5kg, the LCpro+ is less than half the size and weight of traditional systems. The battery operated LCpro+ will function continually for up to 16 hours from a single charge. Sophisticated photosynthesis experiments, such as A/Ci curves and light response curves, can now be easily performed in previously unconsidered field sites.
Featuring the very latest in Infrared Gas Analysis technology, the LCpro+ CO2 and H2O analysis system is housed directly in the leaf chamber head, ensuring the fastest possible response time.
A range of easily interchangeable leaf chamber heads means that the LCpro+ can be used on the widest possible variety of plant species for minimal cost. An interchangeable soil chamber is also available for field soil respiration experimentation.
This powerful, yet affordable, research instrument will prove an invaluable tool in enhancing our understanding of world crop efficiency and a host of global environmental issues. For further information, e-mail: sales@adc.co.uk Refer to page 288

A new, cost-effective instrument that lowers the cost of entry to multiparameter clean and waste water testing has been introduced by Camlab, one of the UK's leading scientific equipment suppliers.
The Camlab Water MC500 multiparameter colorimeter is designed to test more than 70 different clean and waste water testing parameters for the cost equivalent to two single parameter colorimeters.
The MC500's design combines the mobility of a portable photometer with the characteristics of a modern laboratory photometer. The instrument addresses all the important parameters of water analysis, from aluminium to zinc. The high level of accuracy of Camlab water reagents and the user-friendliness of the MC500 enable rapid and reliable analysis of water samples for a variety of application markets including utilities, power, field measurement, aquaculture and industrial manufacturing.
