Beijer Electronics launches widescreen monitor
and industrial PC perfect for maritime applications

Beijer Electronics now extends the monitor and IPC product range for maritime applications with new widescreen models.

The new maritime monitor MTe T240 Nautic features a 23.6 inch widescreen format providing an extensive display area for well-structured machine and process visualization. Thanks to the novel LED backlight, the units fully excludes  the use of high voltage components e.g. neon tubes and inverters, which often are sources of faulty operation.

Further the LED stripes guarantee a more evenly lighting compared with older tube backlight units. Another benefit of the LED technology will be achieved by the infinitely variable dimming down to zero. This feature is essential in bridges on vessels and control rooms with night operation conditions. The robust industrial products fit perfectly in consoles with 60 cm width dimensions. Thanks to this and its 16:9 screen format, the displays will used as easy to use successor to older monitors with 4:3 aspect ratio.

The same features are included in the EPC T240 C2D Nautic as well. Additionally the powerful industrial PC contains a variety of interfaces, e.g. Ethernet, USB, Serial, DVI and PCI slots. Special hard disk drives, developed for high vibration environments, ensure a reliable mass memory. In demand of rotation free
memory, a 64 GByte solid state disk (SSD) comes as alternative medium, optionally with pre-installed Win7.

Both devices, monitor and IPC, are available with touch display or with anti reflexion glass front.

Beijer Electronics present an upgraded iX version 1.30

With its open platform architecture and world-leading graphics, iX has set the trend for modern HMI solutions. Beijer Electronics´ HMI solution, developed in house, is now available in an even more powerful combination, in which upgraded software offer extended features. This includes even greater functionality in development and runtime operation, quicker screen changes and project builds. Other improvements are a new scroll function, even better data uploads and downloads and Chinese language support.

The iX Developer acts as a universal project planning tool for all products of the iX Panel series. Its range includes touch and keypad units from 4,3» to 19» display sizes.

The overall performance of the iX Developer and the runtime has been improved drastically by adding new and modifying existing features. The result is an intuitive project planning tool, to create realistic graphical environments in an efficient way.

Every newcomer to the iX developer V1.30 will take advantage of the large amount of existing demo project, helping him in the realization of their own projects. Equally useful is the extended choice of demo screens. Using the existing templates and scripts inspires the user in easily creating their own solutions.

Animated GIF-files will make the screen come alive and creates a strong user attendance for a safe operation. The improved toggle-tag-feature helps the user to create a back lighted switch in a flash, clearly showing the status of the push buttons. Great reduction of the engineering time is implemented by the use of the extended object library and integrating the graphical elements into own projects.

The feature Database Export allows the summarizing of production data and alarm lists into complete reports with ease. Finally the Excel formatted file is ready to be analysed in external software programs.

In the runtime mode the new feature Alarm-Viewer offers a far improved navigation in alarm lists. By using the Touch-Scroll-Feature the user is able to sift through even long lists quickly and intuitively. Keyboard layouts, which contains special characters e.g. Cyrillic or Chinese fonts are now included as standard equipment. The machine user overlays their language specific keyboard to work in an well known environment. This feature is very useful, especially for export oriented machine builders.

The new trial version is now ready for download. For further information, view website: www.beijerelectronics.com

HMS extends network connectivity for CAN-enabled devices

Extended release of the Anybus® Communicator CANTM enables CAN-devices to be connected to CC-Link, ControlNet, Modus RTU, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP and Profinet IRT.

The Anybus® Communicator CANTM, enables communication between any industrial device with a CAN interface and a chosen industrial network. Following the initial release in July which offered connectivity to 5 networks, HMS can now offer a complete solution for 11 major fieldbus and industrial Ethernet networks: CANopen;  CC-Link (new); ControlNet (new); DeviceNet; Modbus RTU (new); Profibus; EtherCAT (new); EtherNet/IP; Modbus TCP (new); Profinet; Profinet-IRT (new).

Typical users and applications
The Anybus Communicator CAN makes life easier for system integrators and network designers enabling quick and easy connection of CAN-enabled devices to a higher level network. Typical devices include frequency drives, sensors, actuators, human machine interfaces, barcode readers, RFID readers, weighscales and other types of industrial machinery.

True Anybus: connectivity to any fieldbus or Ethernet network
"There is a great need to connect industrial automation devices running CAN to different industrial networks. The initial market response after the first release in July confirms this and the product is already being implemented on a wide scale by customers. The networks in highest demand so far have been EtherNet/IP and DeviceNet, but we have also seen an increase in orders from Profinet users. With the new release, we now realize the full Anybus promise offering connectivity to any fieldbus or Ethernet network," comments Martin Falkman, Product Line Manager Gateways at HMS.

Technical highlights
Any device with a CAN 2.0 A- or B-based protocol can be connected without any hardware or software changes to the CAN devices. This allows automation devices, even those with slower CAN communication, to be integrated into high-speed fieldbus/Ethernet networks without any restrictions to the upper network. Included with the Communicator CAN is the Anybus Configuration Manager enabling visual CAN frame building without any programming or scripting skills needed. Rockwell Automation ´Integrated Architecture Builder´
now supports more than 75 ProSoft Technology products

Almost 80 ProSoft Technology in-chassis and gateway products are now supported within the Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB) project-design software tool.

As reminder, this Rockwell Automation free software tool helps Engineers prepare their automation systems based on PAC (Process Automation Controller) and/or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) solutions.

Configuring Automation System...
As reminder, Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB) is a graphical software tool from Rockwell Automation www.rockwellautomation.com/en/e-tools/configuration.html It is used for configuring Logix-based automation systems. It helps engineers select hardware for applications that include controllers, I/O, networks, drives, cabling and wiring systems, motion control, and other devices. After configuring his projects, the user gets a detailed list of material as well as reports with quality graphics.

….including networking
Users can document control systems that include ProSoft Technology in-rack communication modules and protocol gateways for long. The list of ProSoft Technology products now extends up to over 75 product references. And more are to come in.
